Around the world there are 72 million children who don’t have the chance to go to school.  Over half of these (39 million) live in countries affected by conflict.  Refugee children, child-soldiers and those that have simply been caught up in the trauma of war or an emergency want to go to school, but face multiple barriers. Perhaps the biggest barometer of society can be seen in how it treats the most vulnerable and the most marginalised. Children have no vote, and they do not in themselves generate economic growth.
